Harold D. King
1932–2005
|
During 2005, the death of long-time BancGroup director Harold King saddened the Colonial family. Harold was a banker’s banker: Chairman of the highly regarded bank in Pell City, Alabama, which Colonial acquired in 1985, President of the Alabama Bankers Association, Vice-Chairman of Colonial BancGroup, and a director of Colonial Bank, Harold brought a penetrating intelligence and quiet authority to everything he touched.
Deeply knowledgeable of the banking industry, his leadership of the Asset Liability Committee was of fundamental importance to BancGroup’s success. His wise counsel over more than two decades at every level of the bank helped build the Company into one of America’s most successful financial institutions. We will miss him, but are grateful for his measureless contributions to Colonial.
